Sometimes with fashion and putting together an outfit outside of your routine uniform, it means putting together pieces you wouldn’t think would go together. Utilizing different textures and fabrics within the same look adds interest and depth. We are loving this look styled with a chunky knit sweater and lovely emerald skirt. While it may not be instinctual to have these two items together, you can see these opposites really play off each other in creating a cohesive look. If you’re trying out this trend for the first time, keeping each piece in the same color family may help add some comfort and congruence. Too cold for bare legs? Add some tights or a neutral sock and you are weather-ready!

Cool Spring

Whether worn with a graphic tee, ribbed tank, or a pretty structured blouse like Gabriella shows here, a great printed skirt is an invaluable piece in any gal’s spring/summer wardrobe.  We’ve accessorized Many Belles Down’s aucklana skirt with Ashley Buchanan’s hand-cut enameled white cuff, black and green earrings by Cast & Combed, a fun oversized tote from Alternative and blue platform sandals from BC footwear.  Cheap Monday’s light denim jacket finishes off this look and will be your go-to, throw-it-on piece for years.

Preloved Look

In love with Preloved… Handmade from sustainable recycled suiting, this skirt is killer.  It’s pieced together geometrically creating an exaggerated female form from the natural waist.  And the dark indigo/french navy color is luscious!

Preloved skirt, $189.  Frye heels, $161.  Molly Proctor spoon necklace, $70.

*update 4/21/10:  only one skirt left, size medium
