Do you ever feel like sometimes things just get complicated when they never really had to? Like making dentist appointments or getting our tires rotated, it’s actually so much simpler than we make it out to be with our procrastination and over-thinking. We say to ourselves, “it can’t be that easy!” Well, sometimes, it just is. Like in fashion and putting together an outfit for the day it’s easy to get lost in accessorizing or making the perfect combinations. Welcome the solution: the ROMPER! Yes! It’s comfortable, effortless, and completely eliminates any opportunity to over-complicate + over-think your outfit. These Everly Rompers are almost suspiciously comfortable (how can this be so easy?) and the neutral color and pattern allows you to add your own personal flare with shoes or jewelry. And it’s no secret that we love the Bardot off-the-shoulder trend right. Does anyone else think that the clavicle is one of the most underrated parts of the body? So pretty! So, how about just this once, you let it be this simple!

Sometimes with fashion and putting together an outfit outside of your routine uniform, it means putting together pieces you wouldn’t think would go together. Utilizing different textures and fabrics within the same look adds interest and depth. We are loving this look styled with a chunky knit sweater and lovely emerald skirt. While it may not be instinctual to have these two items together, you can see these opposites really play off each other in creating a cohesive look. If you’re trying out this trend for the first time, keeping each piece in the same color family may help add some comfort and congruence. Too cold for bare legs? Add some tights or a neutral sock and you are weather-ready!

Top Coat

Need a quick style elevation? Look no further than a little fur trim. The (Faux) fur trim trend is definitely one we can get behind. It is commonly thought that fashion tends to repeat itself, and fur accents + details are no exceptions. Find it on this luxurious Traffic People coat, dangling from your tote bag or purse, and even lining the hood of your favorite puffer jacket- this subtle statement helps with staying warm, adding interest, all while remaining classy.

Pretty in Mink Pink

As the winter chill unpredictably creeps in,  find clever ways to layer up without loading yourself down. Nobody likes to walk into the room and have to hold onto stacks of outer layers that are no longer necessary in heated space. Find a long sleeve crop top or your favorite sweater, and throw it on top of a dress to add some warmth without sacrificing your shape and silhouette. And when winter settles in for the season, say ‘good-bye’ to bare legs and seamlessly introduce some tights into this look.

I Dare You to Stop Staring

With the holidays around the corner, consider this an open invitation to rock that show -stopper dress you’ve been holding out for. It may be sparkly, it may be bodycon, it may be crushed velvet, it may even have rhinestones top to bottom- but either way, NOW is the time! At Minx, we literally cannot stop staring at this Stop Staring Dress with beautiful ruffle and bow detail. Although the dress is clearly the main event, don’t feel like you should hold back on accessories. Our David Aubrey necklace and Extasia cameo earrings are bold and perfectly compliment the monochromatic tones of the dress and shoes. Wearing this dress, we actually dare you to try to stop staring!

Bohemian Chic

Festival season is here. As your calendar fills up with weekends devoted to music, arts & crafts, and plants & herbs your head must surely be filled with the persistent mantra “but what shall I wear?”

There are options: a Minx could dress for comfort, or for a camouflaging effect. However, we suggest you dress for the sheer beauty of the experience! Dress as a form of embodying the very spirit of what the festival is celebrating.

Dress as the muse!

Boho Maxi Dress

Lady Like Lace

What could be more romantic and feminine then draping yourself in this pale blue lace maxi dress? It is right on point with the 1970’s trend this spring.

This lovely maxi dress is a bohemian staple with its airy silhouette.

Nothing could be as fun as running around a field with friends, all of you in long gowns rendered in lace or gauzy flowing fabrics. We highly recommended that every Minx does this at least once in their lives, if not more!

Become the Fairy Queen

The world is your oyster when it comes to pairing jewelry with this long gowned look.

We chose to pair this bohemian style maxi with jewelry inspired by nature. Vine and leaf bangles and golden leaf earrings keep this look firmly within Titania’s aesthetic.

Seychelles Have I Got News Heels

Strappy Brown Seychelles heels keep this look gaining momentum with the 2015 Spring trend of Boho chic. When styling this lace maxi remember that you can dress is up and down depending on your footwear.

Try boots, sandals and flats. You will find that you can have a fun dinner out, attend a wedding or walk around town.  All of these activities are within reach while you are wearing sporting this flowing, lacy dress, and your ticket to it all is a simple change of footwear (and perhaps hairdo!)

Lear More About the Inventor of the Boho Look

If you love the Boho look we recommend that you check out the new book: Thea Porter, Bohemian Chic. It tells the riveting story of 1970’s fashion designer, Thea Porter, who is credited with inventing the Boho look. Her designers were worn by many of the era’s iconic females.

A Minx can always gain from knowing her fashion history!

Now Minxes: book your tickets to your favorite festivals, run by Asheville’s own Malaprops book store and order a few books on the history of fashion, grab a gown and get out there and frolic!
