Have A Seat

If you’ve been with us awhile, then the genius that is Johnny Was designs will come as no surprise to you. Embroidery, being one of the biggest trends this season, is one of the most defining features of a Johnny Was garment and they have been in the game for awhile! These special pieces speak to that vintage, well-loved feel with the detail and dedication of a hand-stitched embroidery, bringing life and story to each piece. We strongly suggest investing in Johnny Was that speaks to you – its true wearable art and translates to any event. Understated and yet eye-catching, this tunic dress from Johnny Was needs no introduction and is not quickly forgotten.

Crushed Blush

It’s no secret how much we (and the fashion world at large!) love this blush-y, rose-y shade of pink. Maybe we love how closely it matches a crisp glass of rose? Maybe we cant help but be swept up in the “millennial pink” trend? No matter how we got there – we sure our happy to incorporate more pink in our wardrobe. With this soft, pastel look we thought incorporating bold accessories and shoes would balance it nicely and add some interest. Don’t wait for an all-neutral look to add a pop of color – just pair pieces from the same color family and find a pair of statement shoes to really top it off. We love how these heels from Seychelles really stand out with the rest of this otherwise monochromatic look. So, millennial or not, we hope you feel encouraged to think pink this summer!

Chin Up

We hope you all had a wonderful Fourth of July full of BBQs, fireworks, and those you love around you! Speaking of holidays, whether its before or after Labor Day – there’s no denying how fantastic a crisp white dress is for summer! We love this three-quarter inch sleeve, embroidered dress from Lazybones (and also obsessed over them in a previous post, if you’re curious!). Wearing white can be an excellent way to incorporate neutrals that maybe don’t get as much love during the colder seasons. White tshirts, white shorts, sneakers that used to be white as some point – its all good for this summer! It also creates a beautiful pallet for mixing with accessories and shoes that speak to your personal style. From patterns, to textures, to neons, a white style foundation can handle it all! Happy styling!

Tunnel Vision

The sneakers + dress trend: we officially are OBSESSED! This combo is perfect for summer and getting you from place to place without a lot of fuss. It appears that the “athleisure” trend is here to stay and while that doesn’t always translate to working at a boutique, for us this means finding ways to incorporate casual/athletic pieces with dresses and boutique fashion. This Paige dress perfectly fits into this trend. And we love simply changing up your shoes can create an entirely different vibe without having to put forth a lot of effort. Effortless is what we’re going for here. Have a dress you love and feel like it’s only good for weddings? Throw that on and pair it with your worn out sneakers, ankle socks, a denim jacket, some lapel pins and a backwards baseball cap and you are good-to-go! There’s your look. Have you experimented with the athleisure trend? We hope its here to stay!

Shift to Black

When in doubt, shifting back to those neutral tones and classic silhouettes can feel like the warm hug of familiarity and comfort! When using a neutral color pallet, feel free to experiment with new and different shapes and styles without feeling like you’re jumping too far out of the familiar. We fell in love with these square-toed slingback mules from Intentionally Blank, and while we no longer have them in store, this style is totally worth trying out! As much as we love trying new trends and styles, we appreciate Neuw Denim for keeping those classic looks in mind and we are thrilled to be getting more + more in the store from them (so keep your eyes peeled!)

S.O.S

Sometimes with fashion and putting together an outfit outside of your routine uniform, it means putting together pieces you wouldn’t think would go together. Utilizing different textures and fabrics within the same look adds interest and depth. We are loving this look styled with a chunky knit sweater and lovely emerald skirt. While it may not be instinctual to have these two items together, you can see these opposites really play off each other in creating a cohesive look. If you’re trying out this trend for the first time, keeping each piece in the same color family may help add some comfort and congruence. Too cold for bare legs? Add some tights or a neutral sock and you are weather-ready!

Top Coat

Need a quick style elevation? Look no further than a little fur trim. The (Faux) fur trim trend is definitely one we can get behind. It is commonly thought that fashion tends to repeat itself, and fur accents + details are no exceptions. Find it on this luxurious Traffic People coat, dangling from your tote bag or purse, and even lining the hood of your favorite puffer jacket- this subtle statement helps with staying warm, adding interest, all while remaining classy.
